![]() Well, actually, NO! It had everything to do with Fortress Antonia built to house the Tenth Roman Legion at Jerusalem! The site of the Temples (both Solomon’s and Herod’s) was in the City of David, south of what is wrongly called Temple Mount. They were built in ZION… for location, see Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zion Here’s an example from Psalms from a plethora of Biblical evidence... “May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion” (Psalm 20:2) This is Hebrew poetic parallelism—repeating the idea twice in different form. It's self-evident that ‘the sanctuary’ (holy place or temple) and Zion are one and the same location. Zion was (and is) within the old City of David and is the true site of Jerusalem’s temples. It flows, bringing life wherever it goes. It is frequently pictured flowing from the Temple, that is, out from the presence of God. For the actual Jewish Temples to properly represent this spiritual truth they had to have living water flowing in and from them—and they did! That water was provided by the great spring at Gihon, above which the Temples were constructed. The site at Gihon was known throughout the Bible as HaMakom, THE PLACE. Psalm 122 speaks about Jerusalem as the City of God. The 'Testimony of Israel' (the law of Moses) resides there, within the walls of the city. The psalm was written after the building of Solomon's temple, but places it within the boundaries of the city (see for example, v.7 'within your walls'). 'Compact together' in verse 3 means 'all joined together' or, 'of a piece'. Temple and township were all part of one entity--God dwelling truly in the midst of His people. The temple was not remote from them, some 200 metres to the north!
