CITY of DAVID
or 'TEMPLE MOUNT'
?

Discover from the scriptures WHY the temples were not on so-called Temple Mount!
Yes, on Mount Moriah--but which part of it?
Of course...they were necessarily on the ridge and section called ZION, otherwise known as the City of David! (see 2 Samuel 5:6-7 for example).
Find out why, since the Patriarchs, this site had been known and revered as HaMakom... 'THE' Place.
Whilst there is plenty of extra-biblical evidence, in a unique approach, Ian Heard, using Biblical references only shows us where the temples stood--within the ancient City of David or Zion!
See the e-book, 'THE TEMPLE QUEST' available for immediate purchase and download at the links below for easy reading on your iPad, Kindle device and Android devices etc. If you're new to reading on your device--nothing to fear; just follow easy download instructions and/or App installation!

With a Foreword by Marilyn Sams

What readers are saying about: THE TEMPLE QUEST: Through enlightening discussions of extensive biblical passages, Ian illustrates how the Jews thoroughly understood what "the place"  (HaMakom) meant to the Jewish psyche or soul, but which most often escapes the modern reader.  Ian clearly proves the location of the temple to be above the Gihon Spring in Jerusalem, and this by using only biblical passages.  His ability to tease out new information from familiar scriptures and provide new insights is remarkable and rewarding.  His work provides the "living water" which he discusses within the work, which uplifts, enlightens, and expands the spirit.

WHEN JESUS MOVED OUT OF HIS LANE…

(
Referencing Mark 6:1-6)

Sprinters must stay in their lane or be disqualified, and the life advice ‘stay in your lane’ can be sound and helpful, for we are each gifted or trained in particular things in which we may excel.
It’s usually a good idea to stay within that ‘lane’ but of course the danger is that we become, like many actors, ‘typecast’. The expectation is that we limit ourselves to our particular lane.

However—sometimes the lane we are in is for training purposes.
Jesus, in His Father’s beneficent will was born into a particular, and relatively narrow lane—that of a carpenter, or artisan.
That lane afforded Him a view of every strata of the Galilee region: the rich, the impoverished, the powerful, the marginalised, the deceivers and the deceived. All alike had need of his father’s carpentry business. He was most likely a ‘fixer-upper’ as well as a maker of new furnishings and equipment. It’s where Jesus observed all types and learned about agriculture and farmers and households and tax collectors and soldiers; about seed and soils and vineyards, oxen and asses; men and women and children—and their hearts.

To the villagers and people of Nazareth and the wider Galilee, he was well and truly ‘typecast’, but His heavenly Father’s moment came. Jesus had to move out of that lane—and, to some, that was unacceptable. He’d moved out of His lane and it offended them (verse 3b). A carpenter he was, and a carpenter he should remain. It was this closed attitude of their hearts that caused them to miss the Father’s good pleasure. We’ll see why in a moment.

Though most were synagogue-trained and cognisant, their God was confined and limited. Of course He was the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and of Moses, but—that was ‘then’. This was ‘now’.
As a consequence their hearts were closed to the very God whom they claimed to know and whom they would fiercely defend.

Although a coming Messiah was an ever-present expectation, He too had been ‘typecast’ by their rabbis and teachers. The expectation was a ‘Deliverer’ of a particular kind—and since Rome held them all in its thrall, surely any ‘messiah’ would take care of that oppression!

The result of all this ‘typecasting’ was that Jesus’ work in some places was limited. How can this be?
Well…of course God can do as He pleases, but what pleases Him most is when His work is done in co-operation with people created to discover the joy of co-function with Him.
Now this is a mystery. He desires for us, the joy of being co-functionaries with Him! And that is where belief, or faith plays its part—even the smallest grain of it will do; a shift in our will and disposition to be co-operators with Him, in His plan.
If this is too Arminian for you, I’m sorry. I can see it no other way. For where Jesus’ teaching was met with belief, the Father and He worked mightily. Here is what Mark tells us…

‘Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled BECAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEF. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.’
What do we glean from this? Among many things, here are two that are important:

* God can call us to change lanes. I should not allow myself or others to ‘typecast’ or limit me. The call of God will ensure the equipping of God. The beginning of the lane-change for Jesus was at the Jordan with John the Baptiser, followed by the descent of the Spirit upon Him and the wilderness testing.

* We must never ‘typecast’ Him for this can rob us in more ways than one; it may limit active belief, and thereby rob us of the privilege of co-functioning with Him in what He desires to achieve! (Of course, denominationalism and other kinds of ‘isms’ which may have started well, often end up believing that God only works in Presbyterian way, or a Baptist way, or a Pentecostal way—or the way of my ‘tribe’!)

THE TEMPLE QUEST:
"...Ian clearly proves the location of the temple to be above the Gihon Spring in Jerusalem, and this by using only biblical passages.  His ability to tease out new information from familiar scriptures and provide new insights is remarkable and rewarding.  His work provides the "living water" which he discusses within the work, which uplifts, enlightens, and expands the spirit."

THE PLACE:
"...Ian Heard's book adds a unique fictional aspect to the growing movement of people accepting the City of David location for the temples in Jerusalem. His perspective on how many biblical events converged at this location brings many insightful possibilities to the table. Especially moving are his heartfelt expressions of faith in and love for the prophets and the Savior of the world."
Marilyn Sams

"I Iove it, I love it!! This book is The Place to find your Place! ..... I share the view that the temple in Jerusalem was more likely to be found in the city of David rather than where the present western wall is situated."
Barry Buirski, Celebrate Messian Ministry, Australia

THE PEOPLE:
"The People is an enthralling and innovative approach not only to telling old familiar stories but using narrative to portray, in a subtle but powerful way, the truth of good and evil in our world . . . There is good and evil, God and Satan, and in every human relationship/interaction and behavior a choice is to be made. The consequences, for those with the spiritual eyes to see, are clear. It is an exceptional and well written piece of work."
Dr Allan Bull, MacQuarie University, Sydney

THE PERSON: "In this absorbing read Ian illustrates the beckoning heart of God encountering the hesitating heart of man at the crossroads of Wisdom and ‘Un-Wisdom’. He artfully states a tell-tale divine musing on P.20 “Many wonder at our election of a single human through whom to begin the unfolding of large purpose, but it is our way”. It’s a banquet at a table of archetypal Wisdom. Eat there slowly, linger and be fed."
Pastor Paul O'Sullivan, Northern Beaches Christian Centre Sydney, past chairman Associated Christian Ministries Australia and Founder of Northern Beaches Christian School.
