The Bible says it over and over, yet somehow a great myth has been entrenched and perpetuated; the myth is that the temple of Solomon stood on a prominence somewhere north of Zion!
Take just one reference among many; Psalm 74:2 ‘this Mount Zion where you have dwelt.’
And where was Mount Zion? It was the City of David as we are so clearly shown, ‘so David captured the fortress Zion, which is the City of David’ (2 Samuel 5:7, 1 Chronicles 11:5).
And here's another: Take a look at Psalm 76:2,3
Asaph the Psalm-writer employs the very ancient and earliest name for Jerusalem—Salem, the settlement and enclosure where Melchizedek dwelt (see Genesis 14:18)!
Asaph identifies ancient Salem with Zion and places the temple right there!
