Ezekiel captured the vision of the glory of God departing the temple when Judah went into captivity. His description is telling. He saw the glory of God rise to depart and that departure was from ‘the MIDDLE of the city’ (see Ezekiel 11:23). Clearly the temple was located in the middle of the city, not on a hill to its north.
