THE TEMPLE WAS INSIDE THE HOLY CITY!
Notice that when Jesus was tempted, the tempter ‘took him up INTO the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple’ (Matthew 4:5). Here is more evidence from within scripture that indicates quite clearly that the temple was within the holy city, not on a hill outside and to the north!
