(Referencing Luke 1:31-33)
Now this is an extraordinary statement from Gabriel to Mary!
But then—we would hardly expect an archangel to deliver trivia!
This child to be born of Mary was to occupy the throne of His earthly—and lineal ‘father’—David.
We may spiritualise this into near oblivion—or we may believe that this means nothing less than an eventual rulership of Jesus Messiah over a redeemed remnant of His originally called people, into whom have been grafted post-Calvary believers, the New Covenant believers.
This is what I believe. It is mysterious—even haunting in its potential realisation.
